§ 2-231. Appointment; term.

  • The city manager shall be appointed by a majority vote of the council. He or she shall serve at the pleasure of the council, unless a contract of employment provides otherwise. An elected city official may not be appointed city manager sooner than one year after leaving office, except that, by an affirmative vote of five councilmembers, the council may at any time appoint one of its members or other elected city officials to serve as city manager.
