§ 32-128. Pay advances.

  • (a)

    In case of a medical emergency or death in the family requiring travel out of the community by an employee, and with the approval of the city manager, an advance may be issued to an employee. Advances may be up to 75 percent of the pay earned or annual leave accrued and due to the employee as of the date of the request. Required payroll deductions will be made and the remainder of pay due to the employee will be paid at the next regular payday.

    (b)

    Requests for pay advances for reasons of medical emergencies must be documented by written verification from appropriate medical personnel. To cover additional administrative costs, a processing fee to be set by resolution of the city council shall be charged for each advance issued.
