§ 40-27. Disobedience to traffic control devices.

  • (a)

    A driver approaching a stop sign shall stop at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering it. After having stopped, a driver shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle in the intersection or to a vehicle approaching on another roadway so close that it would constitute an immediate hazard to enter the intersection.

    (b)

    The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign shall slow to a speed reasonable for the existing conditions and for the purpose of checking for oncoming traffic and, if required for safely stopping, as required in this section. After slowing or stopping, the driver shall yield the right-of-way as provided in this section.

    (c)

    Any driver found in violation of this section shall be subject to a $50.00 fine payable to the city.
