§ 4-44. Possession by minors prohibited.

  • (a)

    It shall be a violation for any person under 21 years of age to knowingly possess, consume, or control alcoholic beverages. Anyone found in violation of this section shall be issued a citation.

    (b)

    This section shall not apply if the alcoholic beverage was delivered to the minor by the minor's legal spouse, by a nurse or doctor as part of a medical treatment, or by that minor's parent or legal guardian if the beverage was given in the home and was consumed in the home in the parent's or legal guardian's presence. Further, if the minor consumes alcohol provided by a parent or legal guardian, that minor may not be intoxicated outside the home or the parent or legal guardian's presence.
